What does it mean to "count it all joy?"
When we are encouraged to "count it all joy" in Scripture (James 1:2), we are challenged to consider the way we view our trials and traumic experiences. We are called to consider them in the light of Christ who warned us that in this world we would have trouble but to "take heart" because Christ overcame these troubles for us on the Cross. So...making a statement in this collection is not about embracing hardship, but letting people know that in spite of the hardships we embrace a positive outlook on life and expect better days ahead. Joy can indeed exist even in negative experiences. Count it ALL joy.
